Remove recording noise without guessing a new route.
A GPS jump can draw a detour you never rode, while an excessively dense track can be difficult to exchange. Clean up GPS offers distinct operations for supported GPX data: review jumps, simplify geometry or remove exact duplicate points. These are different choices with different consequences. Start with the smallest change that solves the problem, inspect the affected route and keep the original before reducing detail.
Accepted formats: GPXHow to use this tool
- Open the GPX file and choose the cleanup operation that matches the problem.
- Set the available threshold or simplification setting and inspect the proposed changes.
- Review the retained route and download the verified cleaned copy.
Questions about this tool
Can I make a GPX file smaller without changing the whole route?
Simplification can reduce the number of retained points. The effect depends on the chosen setting and source geometry. Review bends and important sections after processing, and retain the detailed original.
Are duplicate points always safe to remove?
Use the explicit exact-duplicate operation and review its result. Similar coordinates at different times can represent a real stop or repeated visit; proximity alone is not proof that a recorded point is redundant.
